Gynandromorphophilic Identity In Contemporary Society

The study evaluates how the identity of gynandromorphophilic men is constructed in contemporary society. Sampled newspaper articles for the study were sourced from the Nexis database. Furthermore, a systematic discursive approach, which integrates a thematic content analysis is adopted in the analysis of the data. The study utilizes the minority stress theory in order to develop patterns of the behavior in the analysis and provide insights into interpreting the emerging concepts. The objectives of the study aimed at assessing the societal stigma of gynandromorphophilic men and its influence on their physical and mental wellbeing. The findings of the study suggest that there exist prejudice, discrimination, and victimization of such individuals by society. They are perceived as fetishists, risk-takers, people with confused sexual orientations, and men, who are latent gays. As a result, the negative assumptions about gynandromorphophilic identity has a profound effect on causing gynandromorphophilic deviations.
