Guidance and Counselling for Educational Achievements

This research work has delved into the relevance of guidance and counselling in educational achievement, giving special reference to Nigerian secondary schools. The writer has adequately discussed the twins terms; ¿Guidance and Counselling,¿ tracing their historical origin in Nigeria as well as the duties of a school counsellor. He also studies the condition and status of guidance and counselling in some selected Nigerian secondary schools, the result of which indicates the need to reconsider the situation for better. He lastly proposed some recommendations for the appropriate utilization of guidance and counselling to attained the desired educational and overall sustainable national development.
