Green GDP for Sustainable Development in India

The biggest challenge before international community is how to achieve sustainable development and how to know whether the economic development is sustainable in the long run. The basic questions which arise are, how much of the natural resources can be consumed by the economic activities and how much of the resource are to be kept in store for the future so that both economic development as well as environment are not adversely affected.The conventional GDP/GNP do not reveal the state of environment or true standard of living of population as they exclude the natural resources and give wrong picture of economy.Developmental plans based on false GDP/GNP figures lead to unsustainable development.
