Gold Nanoparticles

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been considered an important area of research due to their unique and tunable surface plasmon and their applications. Eco-friendly and cost-effective procedures for the synthesis of nanoparticles are of interest to biologists, chemists and materials scientists alike, especially in the light of efforts to find ¿greener¿ methods for inorganic materials synthesis. Hence, a green approach to the synthesis of gold nanoparticles is the safest and most preferred route. In the present work natural gums such as gum tragacanth, gum karaya, gum kondagogu, gum acacia and salmalia malabarica gum are used as the reducing and stabilizing agents of AuNPs. These green synthesized AuNPs were characterized by several techniques and used in delivery of anti-cancer drug, colorimetric detection of Copper (II) ions, anti-bacterial activity and these AuNPs used as a catalyst for the reduction organic pollutants. The book should be immensely useful for students, researchers and teachers of chemistry, chemical technology, nanotechnology, microbial technology and those who are interested in green nanotechnology.
