Global teams and development of global competences

Within the last decades we have witnessed a rapid rise in multinational corporations and as a consequence global teams are becoming increasingly widespread. The processes in these teams are different from the processes in local teams and it is vital for companies to understand the difficulties, as well as the opportunities, that are inherent in global teamwork. This book explores the processes in global teamwork and the various ways these processes may have relevance for development of a particular kind of competences, labeled global competences. Time, the organizations innovative focus, organizational support, corporate political issues and team members'' perception of and cognitive reflection upon global teamwork are variables that are found to influence these processes.
