GILLNETTERS OF RATNAGIRI COAST, MAHARASHTRA (INDIA)

The regular introduction of new vessels into the existing fishing fleet puts a strain on available resources. Many scientists have attempted over the last century to understand the sustenance of fishermen involved in marine fisheries. In the background, an attempt was made to determine the catch composition of Ratnagiri gillnetters and its significance in the economic viability of gillnet fishing during the 2003-04 season at Mirkarwada fishing harbour in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra State (India). This book is the result of the first author's postgraduate research and will be useful for researchers comparing the current state of the gill net fishery, its profitability, fish catch composition, and so on.
