Gender Based Violence: Causes and Consquences

This book is addressed to those who want to know what the Gender Based Violence (GBV) is how it abuses the basic rights of women. Women is the victim of violence at every stage of her life even before her birth through sex determination test. This text is also discussed, in what form the women is being the victim of violence. For e.g domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape and kidnapping girls for prostitution. Besides this some traditional rituals like female infanticide, dowry system, female genital mutilation, abusive language, forced marriage,, honour killing, child marriage etc. are a stigma for society. This violence not only prevents women from contributing in social, financial and political developments but also effects them physically and mentally. UNO is continuously trying to addresses the problem of GBV but its effects are negligible. It is hoped that the readers, interested in women issues should found something useful in this book and the researchers would use this in their researchers.
