Forensic Odontology

Forensic Odontology is branch of forensic sciences that ¿in the interest of justice deals with proper handling and examination of dental evidence and proper evaluation and presentation of dental findings.Teeth being the strongest and hardest structure of human body, can resist mutilation caused by external factors and thus making them available as specks of evidence in identification of victims of deadly crime . A forensic odontologist bears the responsibility of identification of human remains, age assessment, addressing the incidences of child and sexual abuse, domestic violence, gender and race identification.The aim of this book is to summarize the forensic aspects of dentistry in general and pediatric dentistry in particular. With the advent of increasing crime, natural and man made disasters, pandemics the dental fraternity must be well acquainted with the required knowledge for handling the medico legal cases in their practice and indispensable service towards the creation of Justice and secure society for future inhabitants.
