Forage Conservation In The Tropics

This book describes the process of hay, silage making and urea treatment of crop residue (rice straw). It aimed at improving the nutritional value of available forages in the tropics, increasing availability of feed to livestock especially during the periods of scarcity and increase availability of animals (ruminants) and their products for human consumption. It emphasized on ruminant animals because they are the major source of meat and other animal products in the region. The book also considered small-scale farmers who mostly make their products available for domestic consumption unlike large scale who mostly produced for export purposes. The content will go a long way to speed the growth of small scale farmers and the middle level students in tertiary institutions as they are the middle class of manpower whose market is mostly available.
