Flood Proofing of A Solid Waste Management System: Kratie, Cambodia

Cambodia is one of developing countries in Southeast Asia which has limited capacity of Solid Waste Management (SWM). Especially, there is no appropriate management in flooded provincial towns during flood. To contribute to improving SWM in both normal situation and flood onset, the work on ¿Flood Proofing of SWM System: Case Study in Kratie City¿ has been proposed to review of SWM system, understand the impact and consequence of flood year 2011having on SWM system, and to recommend appropriate SWM system. It is emphasized on landfill, incineration, and recycling operation. Kratie City of Kratie Province is selected as study site since it is inundated during flood 2011. Qualitative research form is taken to apply in this study, and it is not going to represent the whole study area, but useable findings or results. To make the research result even useful and practical, a systematic assessment framework is initiated based on models of SWM system to evaluate the whole process of SWM.
