FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE

Fisheries and Aquaculture are terms used both to express fish hunting and gathering and fish husbandry and utilization respectively. While Fisheries, which in its earlier definition and description concerns purely hunting and gathering using various techniques, are defined in another way as the art of capturing or harvesting from the wild, processing, selling and utilization. Fisheries, has always been with man from time immemorial. The first man was a hunter of all sources of food from terrestrial to aquatic. The art of fish hunting over time has been perfected with the resultant effect of over fishing or over exploitation. Hunting and gathering of fish will continue as long as man continues to exist on planet earth, because tradition will always accompany man.
