How did the Hungarian Swiss react to the extreme situations in Hungarian history and how strongly were they shaped by them? What are the reasons for their whereabouts and departure? What differences and correspondences exist in relation to the society of the host country? After a theoretical foundation and a brief prehistory, the work offers a comprehensive overview of the demographic and occupational development of the Swiss in Hungary between 1867 and 1990, of their embedding in the economic and socio-historical conditions in the host country, and of the institutions, organisations and persons who contributed to the preservation of Swiss identity and integration.
