Despite, the usefulness and importance of the selected species of Sarcostemma acidum, accurate information on standardization parameters and pharmacological approaches were not being carried out so far with proper validation and documentation. Therefore, the present work was conceived with the following objectives: ¿ Bridge the gap between the traditional self-contained theories and modern aspects. ¿ Extract the medicinally active constituents from the various parts of plant; this will be helpful in development of new therapeutics. ¿ Phytochemical screening will be useful in determining the presence of some major constituents in the extracts. ¿ Presence of active constituents will be useful in the isolation of some new led compounds which may be useful in the treatment of some major diseases. ¿ Scientific assessment of various biological activities to ascertain its folk-lore uses. ¿ Assessment of anti¿diabetic and analgesic properties of hydroalcoholic extract of Sarcostemma acidum in rat.
