Exploratory Study of Ring & Travellers, their Impact on Cost & Quality

Yarn manufacturing is highly technical job to produce quality yarn with cost effectiveness. Ring and travellers are the main elements in ring spinning and twisting process. The selection of rings and travellers is the key to obtain economical quality by reducing production cost. The travellers are one of the most important high-tech accessory due to its influence on the productivity and quality of the yarn. Coated and non-coated rings along with nickel-plated and diffusion treated travellers are used at three different spindle speeds to spun 40/s cotton yarn. Coated rings along with diffused travellers gave better spinning performance and quality as compared with non-coated ring and nickel-plated travellers at decreasing spindle speed.
