Everyday Science and Technology for Sustainable Development

This book is compiled to guide students understand basic principles and concepts in the applications of science and technology to everyday life. It is structured to make non science students appreciate the role of scientific knowledge and its applications in our daily routines, understand contributions of science to human existence, identify some common scientific discoveries and inventions and have insight into genetics and its contributions to society. The book touches on basic dynamics of the atmosphere and how to keep it pure, prevention and cure of selected tropical diseases, the forms of energy and uses, and use of basic electronic gadgets. Case studies from Ghana and the rest of the World are drawn on to enhance students understanding of concepts, principles and issues. The goal of this book, first, is to orientate students to the technological advancements¿ characteristic of their generation and appreciate the realities of the technological dispensation and second, to awaken the interest of science and technology studies in, especially, non-science students.
