Ethnobotany:A way to health

Ethnobotany plays a vital role in the developing countries due to lack of or limited modern health services. Folk medicines play a key role as most of the world population reside in the rural areas. The important component of this indigenous knowledge is the medicinal use of plants for common ailments. In the era of development, the environmental problems are more serious than ever before. Due to the high pressure of population, traditional knowledge of medicinal plants and their resources is declining rapidly. This problem is very much acute and large areas are converted into desert due to lack of protection of plant diversity. This research work has identified the wild plants which are traditionaly used by various tribes of central Rajasthan (India) for the treatment of common ailments without any side effects and also suggested ways to protect the diversity of that particular region.
