Ethical leadership for greater happiness

This book is a plea for ethical leadership. It is a call for the leader of our country to embody an ethical dose in the management of public affairs. All our effort consisted in showing that the utilitarian morality of Mill, with its principles of the greatest happiness of the greatest number and non-harmfulness, founds a model of leadership committed to the common good that can be successfully applied to the DR Congo. There are several philosophical theories of leadership, the one we propose is characterized by service or altruism. It aims at the greatest happiness of the greatest number. Thus, the consequences of a leader's actions on the well-being of the greatest number of people in his care become the criterion for evaluating his leadership. The purpose of this book is to help future African leaders and Congolese leaders in particular to understand that leadership is a privilege to serve and inspire the people and not an opportunity to manipulate the people to satisfy personal greed.
