Epigraphic “Shades” from Hellenistic Thrace

A groundbreaking exploration of Early Hellenistic Thrace emerges from Boshnakov’s identifications and reinterpretations of Greek inscriptions found at the Odrysian residence of Seuthopolis and at major monumental tombs, including those of Seuthes III, Sveshtari, Alexandrovo, and Kazanlak.

Central to the study is the discovery of the dipinti in the vaulted chamber of the Kazanlak Tomb, naming the Thracian artist Kozimases, painter of the frescoes, and Rhoigos, son of Seuthes III – evidence that reshapes our understanding of Thracian kingship, artistic identity, and cultural exchange.
