Environmental law and environmental responsibility in the DRC

The deterioration of the earth's environment is increasingly threatening the natural resource base and processes on which all life on earth depends. The United Nations Environment Programme's Global Environment Outlook project highlights the extent and diversity of the problems.The deterioration of the environment is caused by human activities. It is developing at an unprecedented rate, and the damage caused is serious and irreversible. It harms the people who produce it, future generations and entire nations.It is imperative that national judges of all types of written law Tribunals identify the environmental problems they face. They need to be aware of the range of options available to them in interpreting and applying environmental law. They must also be aware of the principles to be used in litigation relating to environmental issues. This requires them to be familiar with information on international law, environmental law, permanent case law references, etc.
