Environmental Impact Assessment of Doon city

EIA is gaining popularity day by day since its inception in India two decades back. One side it is having so many controversial projects which became the reasons to highlight the environmental impact assessment and on the other side involvement of top notch politicians to go ahead with getting EIA clearance without proper scrutiny by experts. Among these projects, TAJ Corridor & Aadarsh Housing Society are world known projects. But as environmentalists I think these two cases have given the fame and publicity to EIA concept in India which was required at the time of introduction of EIA in India, so that each and every citizen should understand the importance of EIA. Nowadays even housing companies giving the advertisement of their Flats with a line (mostly in block letters) that their projects got EIA Clearance. In this Book an attempt has been made to show the results of EIA study of a rapidly growing city. The City is important in terms of its reputation in the past being the first choice of the class of the people like IAS Officers, IFS Officers and Military Officers for the settlement after their retirements because of its clean & green environment.
