Environmental Education Awareness among School Teachers

The environmental crisis had reached to a stage where it had threatened the very survival of Homo sapiens, a name that attributes wisdom to us. This ¿wise one¿ is no longer living up to his name so that he has to me reminded of his wisdom. He had to be shaken out of his lethargy to prevent any further damage. This is possible only through education which as an effective instrument can help conserve the resources, control the population and can plan not just for mankind but for all kind.The road to this recovery is environmental education that can bring about attitudinal change in the people for the environment and its related problems. Teacher being a vital link in an educational system can disseminate the knowledge about environment, its associated problems and their solution. But before they are engaged for this responsibility it becomes imperative to ensure their ability of coping with environmental quality related issues.
