Enhancing the Competitive Ability of Oat Cropping Systems

Ecological weed management is essential component in weed control when herbicide use is limited or prohibited in cropping systems.Herbicide use can be limited in controlling wild oat (Avena fatua L.) in oat (Avena sativa L.) cultivations as they are genetically similar. Furthermore, effective weed management strategies are limited in organic oat cultivations where herbicide use is prohibited. Enhancing crop competitive ability could be a key strategy in managing weeds in such instances.This book discuss the pottential strategies to control weeds in oat cropping systems when herbicide use is no longer an option.Meanwhile the strategiesidentified in this book could be effectively utilise to manage weed control in other cereal cropping systems.
