It took several years of activism to chisel favourable, positive and constructive attitudes toward children and to animate actions to improve their well-being. The efforts involved in the implementation of the Convention, the commitment of significant amount of resources to the cause, and the overall effectiveness of the systems put in place for the execution process have a bearing on the success of child welfare outcomes. Over the decades, the implementation of the Convention and its effect on child welfare has differed from country to country and from one region of the world to the other. An analysis of the situation has shown outstanding progress at global level in addressing the issues related to children. Meaningful opportunities should galore enough to allow children to learn and gain the skills that empower them to be free, develop themselves, their communities and the world. This book is written to shed light on some of the issues hinging on child rights. Recommendations made to ameliorate some of the issues impeding child welfare may not be panaceas.
