Eggon-Koro Conflicts in Nasarawa, North Central Nigeria 1900 - 2012

This book examines the dynamics of Eggon-Koro Conflicts in Nasarawa State, Nigeria since the twentieth century. This book illuminates the socio-political and economic perspectives to the avalanche of violent conflict between these ethnic groups. Eggon ¿ Koro Conflicts, circa 1900 to 2012 dovetail within the issues of land, chieftaincy tussle, arbitrary boundary demarcation, and the militarization and politicization of ethnic groups by politicians. Besides, rural based poverty manifesting in forms of deprivations, and lack of basic opportunities (choice) also accounts for the high preponderance of conflicts between Eggon and Koro ethnic groups in Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria. This book recommends that to stimulate sustainable peace, security, democracy and development in 21st century Nasarawa and Nigeria, Government at all levels must deliver dividends of good governance to the people while Civil society organizations must intensify efforts in reportage and analysis of early warning signals to help averts violent conflicts.
