Performance of microprocessors has been increasing remarkably due to improved fabrication technology. Lower operating voltage levels have also helped to lower the power consumption of today's microprocessors. The advances have made chips more prone to transient faults that can damage data making systems out of stock. When these faults are executed in system, soft errors are resulted which are significant concern for circuit reliability. Among various adopted techniques to mitigate soft errors' effects on system functionality, Error Correcting Code (ECC) is one of the dominant approaches since it reduces cost overhead significantly. This book deals with a new error correcting coding approach to tolerate soft errors which is able to detect soft errors at any of bit positions and correct those efficiently. It reduces the cost by lessen the circuitry needed to implement the scheme and the detection time is reduced as well if soft error is detected at early of the proposed 'modular checkings'. The work should be helpful to people involved in data communication technology and should be especially useful to researchers in this field, or anyone else who may be interested in enhanced ECC.
