Effectiveness of Privatization in Tanzania

Despite an impressive level of privatization activity across Africa and the upsurge in research on the operating performance of privatized firms in both developed and developing economies, our empirical knowledge of the effectiveness privatization programme in Tanzania is still limited. This book intend to reveal the valued outcome of privatization achieved and to what extent have objectives of revamping the economy been achieved by previous State Own Enterprises (SOE¿s) in Tanzania after divestiture.The central issue addressed is the impact of privatization on economic, fiscal policy and social - political goals. The findings revealed social economic development, significance increases in revenue collection, sales revenues, new investment and technology, employment level, improvement in the quality and quantity of product and unsatisfactory improvement in profitability after privatization program.
