Beschreibung

This book drew inspiration during one of the tea breaks of the Committee of Friends in the Faculty of Education Delta State University Abraka in the office of Professor P. O. Ikoya, who was the chairman and founding father of the Committee. These are academic staff who benefit from the mentoring of their more experienced colleague. In this particular tea break, the issue of research in education was raised, and members aired their views of their experiences in teaching and supervision of research in education. Professor P.O. Ikoya, the chairman, from his experience, addressed many of the issues raised. Members there and then agreed that a book that captured his experience shall be written in his honour as he was retiring from the university. This book addresses the issue of linkages between goals of education, educational problems and topics of research. It advocates a shift from asking students to provide research topics to that of asking them to identify problems from which researchable topics are developed. It covers research designs and methods of analysis of data, the book will be valuable to both researchers and students from the undergraduate level to postgraduate level.
