Education of Santal Community :

The term sustainability is basically explains the need of the present, it does not violate the need of the future generation. Language sustainability reveals that, a language would be of sustainable in nature when despite of changing circumstances and social environment, it still has been used. Santal ethnic and language group is one of the largest tribal community in India which through their various customs and indigenous knowledge has developed a sustainable system of life. These sustainability has been reflected in their education where Santali language played a crucial role for imparting this knowledge of sustainability from generation to generation. But Santal culture and their native language are not given importance in their education purpose. Consequently, their attentions towards education gradually descend and opportunities to entertain education in native language become obscure. Hence, securing sustainability of Santali language in education is confronted with a million dollar question.
