The construction of Aswan High Dam (AHD) in the southern part of Egypt resulted in the creation of one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Lake Nasser provided a water tank' for the country besides drinking and municipal water supply, industrial and cooling water supply, power generation, agricultural irrigation, river regulation and flood control, commercial and recreational fisheries and other aesthetic recreational uses. The lake has undergone ecological changes in its characteristics, biodiversity, fisheries etc,.
