Ebola and Lassa Fever Viruses

The scientific study of viruses and the infections they cause in human environments dates back to late 19th century. Since then, there have been studies on the origin, causes, signs and symptoms, mode of transmission, vaccines for treatments of viruses as well as their preventive and control measures, the world over. With regard to the foregoing, little or no emphasis was placed on cultural practices as means that can lead humans to be infected with the viruses. Thus, this created a lacuna, in so far that humans died of viruses in the world, with special reference to Africa; hence researchers did not consider cultural practice as a factor in any research.Ipso facto, the cultural practice challenges faced by Africans during the emergence of Ebola and Lassa Fever Viruses between 1976 and 2014 were dreadful cases to worry in the history of Africa. Indeed, to rewrite the culturally associated history of Ebola and Lassa Fever Viruses in Africa, this book is written with all intents and purposes to ensure a rebirth of cultural practices that will help halt the resurgence of Ebola virus disease alongside the spread of Lassa fever on the continent.
