EARLY ORTHODONTIC INTERVENTION IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS

Preventive and interceptive orthodontics is a dynamic phase which requires ever constant vigilance and a routine discipline for both the dentist and patient. The problems cannot and should not be neglected as they may land in trouble in future if not treated timely. Treatment in primary dentition should be undertaken to remove the obstacles of growth of face and dentition and to restore the normal functions. Nevertheless many problems do not require any treatment during this young age as they are self correcting in nature or can be better treated later in mixed dentition which is the time of greatest opportunity for occlusal guidance and interception of malocclusion.This book summarizes such problems and how they should be taken care of well in time.
