Early Childhood Caries

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is a community problem it may be necessary to consider the term maternally derived streptococcus mutans disease because early childhood is a vague term and caries is not a word what is readily understood by the general public. ECC can spread at very fast pace involving all the primary teeth within a short period. It starts with the existence of isolated carious lesion(s) involving molars and/or incisors to lesion affecting almost all the teeth including the lower incisors. This book highlights the importance of Diagnosis and Management of the most prevalent disease in children i.e. Dental caries. It also reflects the significance of its prevention as early as prenatal as well as in neonates.
