The Cree language, also known as Cree-Montagnais-Naskapi, is spoken across vast regions of Canada, from the Rocky Mountains in the west to Labrador in the east, and in northern Montana in the United States. One important variety, Plains Cree, also called the y-dialect, is spoken in much of Alberta, central Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and northern Montana.
