Differences between women under and over 75 years of age

The aging of the population is increasing worldwide (1), significantly in countries with different levels of development (2). The report issued by the United Nations Organization (3) determines that by the year 2050, the number of elderly people will be 1.5 billion, that is, an increase of 34% is visualized, and a large percentage of this population will be located in underdeveloped countries (4).In Chile, according to the census conducted in 2017 there are about 2.8 million elderly people fluctuating between 60 years of age and older, of which 55.7% are women (5). These results place Chile among the 30 countries with the highest number of elderly people in the world, after Cuba and Uruguay (6). Population aging brings with it challenges to address the quality of life of older people living in the community, particularly women.
