Diagnosis of Dental Caries

Caries diagnosis has a critical impact on treatment decisions: incorrect diagnosis may easily result in incorrect treatment decisions, particularly with respect to operative intervention. And in this age of minimally-invasive dentistry, where in detection of the carious lesions at the earliest stage is of utmost importance, traditional clinical examination and radiographic methods are lagging behind because of the inherent drawbacks associated with them. In this book, various advanced methods like laser fluorescence, quantitative light induced fluorescence, electrical conductivity measurements, direct digital radiography, and digital fiberoptic transillumination, which would increase the overall efficacy and precision of caries diagnosis have been evaluated.
