Development of Damage Assessment for Mangrove Ecosystem

The increase of sea transportation in the Peleng Strait, Banggai and Banggai Islands Regency, Central Sulawesi such as oil tankers are potentially causing environmental degradation, which in case of a tanker collision that may cause an oil spill. Oil spills in the marine environment can cause damage to mangrove ecosystems. Assessment of mangrove ecosystem damage can be done by analyzing mangrove sensitivity index, oil spill model and economic value calculation. Thus present the use of integration models is only limited to the sensitivity index of mangroves and oil spill models, so it is necessary to develop an integrated model of damage assessment of mangrove ecosystems. The aim of research is to study on how much the loss value of mangrove ecosystem when the oil spill contaminate into the mangrove ecosystem.It is necessary to conduct an economic assessment for the damage of mangrove ecosystems.
