Developing English for Specific Purposes Materials

Learning will be facilitated by making students aware of the range of strategies from which they can choose during language learning and use. This can be done by having the pedagogical materials incorporate learning and use strategies of learners in their specific field of study. This is in line with basis of all ESPs i.e. learner-centeredness. The present study is an attempt to investigate the strategies students of Irrigation and Watershed Management courses manipulate in their learning and use of English to be observed while designing and developing materials. Besides, to help users of materials feel at ease when working with the content and the follow-up activities, and experience a sense of motivation and successfulness there are many other factors that must be considered. User-friendly principals is a term coined by the researcher to comprehensively include all the necessary factors and features. The eighty participants in this study, students of Irrigation and Watershed Management, were members of two classes held in Arak Azad University, who checked their application of learning strategies on an inventory of eighty learning and use strategies in the six decided categories.
