Developing critical thinking among students

Mass communication today is a system of informal education and has a very significant impact on the acquisition by people of all ages of a wide range of social norms, on the formation of the value orientations of the individual. Under these conditions, children and young people are the most unprotected: it is they who are largely dependent on various kinds of information and psychological influences. The problem of psychological impact of the media is one of the most topical and intriguing today. This monograph deals with the problem of manipulative influence of reality TV shows for youth and reveals the possibilities of media education in developing the critical thinking of high school students by means of analyzing the media texts of such TV shows.
