Smile design is a relatively new discipline in the area of cosmetic dentistry, and it involves several areas of micro esthetics and macro esthetics and further treatment planning. As mentioned earlier, macro esthetic principles are only part of the overall picture; gingival esthetics, facial esthetics and micro esthetics are the other three essential components of effective smile design.

Thus the comprehensive interdisciplinary approach should be included such as: Interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment planning, Leveling and alignment of the dentition, Vertical management- Assessment of the incisal edge/gingival margin relationships for possible need of orthodontic intrusion, excisional gingivectomies, or definitive crown lengthening procedures, Restorative phase. Ideal restoration of anterior teeth with direct composite resin bonding based on principles of tooth form and proportionality, Prosthodontic finishing details and modification of the composite restorations as needed and retention /Long-term follow-up. Therefore using a comprehensive approach of esthetic treatment planning can help achieve the smile that best enhances the overall facial appearance of the patient and provides the additional benefit of enhanced oral health. An attractive and pleasing smile visibly enhances the acceptance of the individual in the society and the character of the smile influences the attractiveness and the personality of the individual, and so have the Dentists or technicians traditionally made choices about esthetic treatment through knowledge of each and every element to reflect it on to the patients demand.
