Design and Construction of an Automobile Engine's Stethoscope

This research work was based on the principle of signal analysis and processing of acoustic(sound) wave from auto engine, for the purpose of faults diagnosis for proper maintenance and routine check for do-it-yourself enthusiast and to assist auto-mechanic in giving a quicker sound probing of auto-engine's faults in order to determine the remaining safe operating life of automobile engine before a final breakdown occurs. If noise ( or vibration) of the complete automobile, either of auto engine or some part (obtained by selective operation or sequential wrapping, which in real life is not possible to some extent) is measured, then various analyses may be made of the data. The most common analysis performed is frequency analysis.
