A body of literature is used to answer the question whether it is helpful to consider the recipients¿ involvement when designing a job ad ¿ concentrating on the impact of pictures. After outlining what the current understanding of involvement is, job ads and picture effects are sketched. That knowledge is the basis for the following argumentation that involvement is indeed an important mediator in the reception of job ads. Later several design recommendations (again focusing on the usage of pictures) are derived.
