Depression among Higher Secondary School Girl Students

Adolescence is always an unsettling time, with many physical,emotional, psychological and social changes that accompany this stage of life. Unrealistic academic, social, or family expectations can create a strong sense of rejection and can lead to deep disappointment. When things go wrong at school or at home, teens often overreact. Many of them feel that life is not fair or that things ¿never go their way¿. They feel ¿stressed out¿ and confused and have most swings and feel down in the dumps or blue. ¿Why does this occur to them?¿ Neither adolescents themselves nor the others (teachers, parents, friends) are able to tell whether he/she is ¿going through a phase¿ or ¿struggling with depression¿. Only mental health professionals experienced in evaluating and treating adolescent depression can help the adolescents to get better equipped to face this misunderstood emotion and become well.
