Loss of teeth in children is commonly caused due to traumatic exposure or anodontia. It can lead to loss of masticatory function, altered speech, lack of self-confidence and malalignment of teeth overtime. This hampers the aesthetic and psychosocial development of children. Conventionally, tooth loss in children has been managed with conservative approaches which includes space maintainers, removable dentures and sometimes fixed prosthesis. Dental implants in a young child would be an ideal mode of treatment for the absence of teeth however acceptance of dental Implants as an alternative comes with several adversity. Growth is a dynamic process with stable pattern of changes resulting in the increased physical change of mass during the course of development. The purpose of this book is to understand the implications of growth and recommendations for the formulation of dental implants as a treatment option in paediatric patients.
