This book is going to tell about Dental auxiliaries.Dental Auxiliary is a person who is given responsibility by a dentist so that he or she can help the dentist render dental care, but who is not himself or herself qualified with a dental degree. ¿Dental auxiliary¿ is a generic term for all persons who assist the dentist in treating patients.Traditionally, it was thought that it was duty of the dentist to provide all oral health care services. Since the population demanding dental care was more when compared to the dentists existing, it became necessary to train certain people to perform general procedures. The dentists also felt that if they had certain trained people under them who could perform general procedures, like prophylaxis, and who had knowledge of all the instruments used in a dental clinic, it would lessen their burden and hence they could concentrate on the job at hand.
