This graphemic study examines a corpus of Viking runestones from the Skåne countryside. It is the first to analyze graphetic and graphemic aspects separately. The findings show that rune forms and linguistic characteristics were consistently followed and implemented, and that some of them were distributed regionally. This offers new insights into the production and conceptualization of runic monuments.
