Cystic Fibrosis: Novel Genetic Insight Directs for Specific Therapy

There is evidence for insufficient knowledge of CF within the medical community of the middle-east region which contributes to the under-diagnosis. Severe cases are lost because they die before the diagnosis has been considered. Cystic fibrosis is frequently missed in the Egyptian population due to lack of appropriate diagnostic tools. Thus the aim of this book was to put a number of basic standards of cystic fibrosis diagnosis and care that need to be implemented; by making timely diagnosis (according to the CF foundation standards) with appropriate counseling and psychological support to the child and their family. This book is directed to the medical community, medical and other healthcare students and postgraduates to be more aware of CF, so that typical and atypical cases (such as those presenting in adult life) can be effectively diagnosed and treated.
