As the legal courses are mainly doctrinal in nature, the place for socio-legal courses such as customary law is next to none. Predominantly, significant attention is given to the transplanted western legal principles, rules and cases. However, in 2007 the legal education reform took place in Ethiopia revisited the curriculum and inculcated customary law for the first time in the history of Ethiopian legal education. And yet, in a country nicknamed as mosaic of culture and the majority of her people ruled under customary laws, academic/research works in this field still insignificant.
