Cultivating Dating Relationships

According to cultivation theory, the more an individual watches television (as well as their preferred genre of television) the more the reality themes portrayed are melted with actual reality and then subconsciously reproduced. This study looks at the connection between television, unrealistic relational beliefs and relationship satisfaction. Do we form expectations for our dating relationships in unrealistic ways? Do our preferred genres of TV (comedy, romance, reality etc...) add to these unrealistic expectations? If so, how is our satisfaction with our relationship impacted? This study evaluates an actual connection between television, expectations and the impact they can have on our romantic relationships.
