Ornamental plants improve the aesthetics of the environment with their colorful petals, scents and other beautiful features that distinguish them and enhance their environmental beautification effect. The pigments, responsible for the colours of ornamental plants, are also useful to humans as components for medicines. We used aqueous and organic solvents to extract pigments from petals of five fascinating flowers planted around IITA station, Cotonou, Benin.
