Crop Biology and Agriculture in Harsh Environments

Ongoing global climatic changes have been imposing its negative effects not only in meteorology, but also in our mother ecosystem in form of environmental hazards that mostly affect the biology and agricultural system of crop plants. As we know that cultivation and agriculture are most crucial pillars for food security to global population, it is much needed to combat against the harsh environments for the crops. Crop plants respond to such harsh conditions in various ways viz. physiologically, biochemically and in molecular level. Breeding methods, with huge modifications, have now become the pioneer to produce the hybrids since the period of green revolution. Parallely, agricultural systems/practices are being sifted to environmental friendly ¿organic¿ from conventional ¿inorganic¿ or ¿synthetic¿ approaches. In this climate change era, more attention is to be paid for tissue cultural techniques. As a whole, innovative research approaches will be undertake, based on this ground of thinking, to make our environment too green with crop based productive agriculture in harsh environments for sustainable food security to the World¿s inhabitants.
